FUNGICIDE | NEMATICIDE | BACTERICIDE

Smarter source, sharper science. Consequence™ is an evolved fungal chitosan product designed to strengthen crops and defend against a wide spectrum of pathogens. Consequence is a 25(b) EPA-exempt biopesticide, effective against nematodes as well as fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens.

The chitosan in Consequence is a naturally occurring biopolymer derived from fungal cell walls instead of allergenic shellfish sources. When applied to plants, Consequence functions both as a direct antimicrobial agent and as a biochemical signal that activates the plant’s own defense systems. Consequence also enhances root growth, nutrient uptake, and tolerance to environmental stress.

Environmentally safe, biodegradable, and compatible with integrated pest management programs, chitosan is a powerful biological alternative to synthetic pesticides.

Active Ingredients: Chitosan........ 5.0%
Other Ingredient(s): Water, citric acid....... 95.0%

Consequence contains chitosan which is an elicitor that indicudes systemic acquired resistance (SAR inducer) and leads to biostynthesis/production of key defense molecules within the plant. Consequence boosts plant's ability to defend against fungal pathogens, nematodes, and pathogenic bateria.

How it works

1. Apply Consequence to roots or foliage prior to onset of disease season.

2. Chitosan’s positively charged molecules bind to pathogen cell membranes, directly inhibiting fungal, bacterial, viral, and nematode activity.

3. Chitosan also serves as a plant defense signal, activating systemic acquired resistance (SAR) and induced systemic resistance (ISR), and triggering production of compounds like lignin that reinforce tissues and block infection sites.

4. With direct microbial action, strengthened defense systems and tissues, Consequence lets crops maintain vigor during attack, recover faster from stress, and achieve higher and more quality yields.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Consequence?

We sell Consequence because chitosan is a biologically meaningful molecule that both directly disrupts pathogens, but also one that plants recognize as a defense signal. It offers a way to support crop protection through plant response and external control.

Why does Impello sell Consequence?

Consequence works by disrupting pathogens and using chitosan to activate plant defense pathways associated with systemic resistance, stress signaling, and protective responses.

How does Consequence work?

Consequence matters because growers need effective tools that fit into modern IPM programs, where residue limits, resistance management, and sustainability goals are important.

Why does Consequence matter to growers?

Consequence is an EPA-exempt 25(b) biopesticide, and has zero Restricted Entry Intervals (REI), zero Maximum Residue Limits (MRL), and a zero-day Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI). This means you can apply it right up until harvest without worrying about chemical residues or labor operational delays.

What are the REI, MRL, and PHI for Consequence?

Consequence is an EPA-exempt 25(b) biopesticide, and has zero Restricted Entry Intervals (REI), zero Maximum Residue Limits (MRL), and a zero-day Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI). This means you can apply it right up until harvest without worrying about chemical residues or labor operational delays.

How should Consequence be applied?

Consequence can be applied as a foliar spray to control pathogens or activate systemic resistance in canopy tissues, or as a root drench to suppress soil disease or trigger defensive plant pathways from the root zone up. It is easily integrated into standard spray equipment or fertigation systems.

Note: Application strategies change based on your specific crop, location, substrate, goals and challenges. Contact an Impello advisor at info@impellobio.com to develop a program right for your operation.

When should I use Consequence?

Consequence is designed to be used proactively within an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. Apply it before pest or disease pressure peaks to ensure the plant's internal defense systems are already fully primed.Note: Application strategies change based on your specific crop, location, substrate, goals and challenges.

How much should I apply and how frequently?

The general rule of thumb for maintenance and proactive defense is to apply Consequence at a rate of 5 to 10 mL per gallon of water every 7 to 14 days. During periods of heightened pressure, frequency may be increased.
