All About Tundra™

What is it?

A carefully crafted recipe of fruit and flower quality-supporting ingredients to make fruiting and flowering annuals thrive. Tundra contains phosphorus and potassium mineral salts, kelp extract, and fulvic acid, all suspended in a broth that is the byproduct of microbial fermentation and contains a broad spectrum of amino acids.

But: Like many Impello products, Tundra is more than the sum of its parts. All of the ingredients are known for how their nutrition supports fruit and flower yields, but all together, this fertilizer is something special. Tundra is nutrient synergy in a bottle.

Why do we make it?

There are so many fruit and flower fertilizers on the market, why make another? Because we wanted to tailor support for innovative growers who are thinking about their system as a whole: A few years ago, one of our commercial farm partners asked us if we would consider making a PK booster and nutrient solution that would both support flower quality and could also be used to support our microbial products. As a company founded by growers, we have always believed that growers are the best source of knowledge, 😉 so we listened. The result was Tundra.

We started with standard phosphorous and potassium mineral salts to create a baseline nutrition of 0-7-8, and then we considered what else we might add to support microbial life and quality in a flowering ecosystem. We settled on kelp extract, fulvic acid, and a rich amino acid broth that is a nuanced source of nitrogen and building blocks that support processes in both crops and beneficial microbes. However, whether you are using microbes or not, through its special blend of nutrition, Tundra has fast, intense effects on plant health and flowering.

What is Tundra doing?

Tundra isn't just another bloom booster––it is a blend of traditional no-fail flowering nutrition and innovative vegetative, flower, and fruit support. As with our other product designs, at Impello we always keep in mind your entire plant ecosystem, with an eye towards supporting the beneficial microbes which in turn support your plants.

Kelp extract is a source of a wide variety of crop-valuable compounds (macro and micronutrients, sugars, cytokinins, etc.). It also has enzymes and polyphenols. These help remove harmful free radicals and protect delicate tissues from environmental stress. Tundra supports the growth of beneficial, nutrient-solubilizing and crop-defending microbes.

Fulvic acid is a cleaner alternative to humic acid and has beneficial effects on plant growth as well as helping to recruit beneficial organisms to the rhizosphere. Together, the synergy of these ingredients have truly unique effects on flowering quality: growers tell us they see richer bloom colors in ornamentals and better fragrances through increases in the important secondary metabolites that are important to them. For some growers, this means more compounds like cannabinoids and terpenes; and for other growers it is other VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Topped off with an amino acid broth, full of a diverse array of essential building blocks for your plants and the microbes on which they rely.

The bottom line is that Tundra’s nutrition has impacts on all the traits that are important to the people whose livelihood depends on flowers and fruits. We should know. Like all Impello products, Tundra is designed for growers, by growers.
